Letter to the Secretary of State with responsibility for women and equalities: GRA reform – lessons from Scotland

palace of westminster and big ben london england

On 23 July 2024, we wrote to the Rt Hon Bridget Phillipson MP, Secretary of State with responsibility for women and equalities. In light of the Labour Party’s manifesto commitment to reform the Gender Recognition Act 2004 (GRA), we wrote to share our experience of the Scottish Government’s handling of proposals to reform this legislation in recent years and to urge the UK Government to learn from this when it comes to take forward its own commitment.
